Rachel Berry is a mom! Glee alum Lea Michele and her husband, Zandy Reich, welcomed a baby boy on Aug. 20. Michele announced she was pregnant via Instagram in early May — just over a year after the couple were married in 2019. Michele, 33, and Riech, 37, were first seen in the public eye back in 2017 and they were engaged in 2018. The couple said they have “always wanted to be parents,” a source told People. The new parents have named their son Ever Leo.
Michele has not been shy about her pregnancy since her announcement on Instagram. She’s shared plenty of baby-bump photos over the past few months, documenting her growing bump. “Getting some extra sleep while I can,” she wrote in May.
Michele got her start on Broadway at just eight years old when she played Young Cosette in the musical Les Misérables. She later went on to land the role of Wendla in Spring Awakening in 2006, but is most widely known for her lead role as Rachel Berry in the FOX television show, Glee, which enjoyed an epic six-year run. She was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a TV Series Musical or Comedy twice, as well as for an Emmy (though she didn’t take hop any of those top prizes).
Michele has also appeared on other TV shows like Sons of Anarchy, The Mayor, and Scream Queens. Her talents don’t stop with just theater and TV though, she’s also released three solo albums, been on a concert tour with former Glee cast member Darren Criss, and penned an autobiography, called Brunette Ambition, that is now a New York Times’ Bestseller.
So, will their baby boy be the next Broadway/TV star? We certainly hope so! Congrats to the new parents!
