10 Roles We’d Like Taylor Louderman To Play

08.10.20

BY: MICHAEL GALVIN

From her Broadway debut as Campbell in Bring It On to her Tony-nominated turn as Regina George in Mean Girls, Taylor Louderman is a supernova! While Broadway remains dark that did not stop this star from achieving a huge milestone, getting married! That is totally fetch! Congrats Taylor and Brooks on your huge achievement! The team at Broadway Roulette is appreciative of Taylor’s participation by joining fans during the Broadway Roulette Mixers! While we wait for Broadway to return, here is a list of ten roles we’d like Taylor to play on Broadway in the future.

1. Elle Woods from Legally Blonde

Omigod you guys” we need Legally Blonde back on Broadway ASAP, especially with Taylor as Elle. Elle Woods is arguably one of the most demanding roles in Broadway history, requiring an actress to have impressive vocals, acting chops, and physical stamina. After leading Mean Girls as Regina, I feel Taylor has proven herself that she is capable to lead a future productions of Legally Blonde.

2. Audrey from Little Shop Of Horrors

Up next on this list is Audrey from Little Shop Of Horrors. I think Taylor Louderman would be a perfect match for this role! I would love to see what personal nuances Taylor would bring to the role as she brings so much of herself to each role she plays. Also, how amazing would it be to hear Taylor sing “Somewhere That’s Green”. I mean come on, that would be perfection!

3. Bonnie Parker from Bonnie and Clyde

At number three on this list, we have Bonnie Parker from Bonnie and Clyde. This cult classic show only ran four weeks on Broadway and fans are itching for this musical to come back. Personally, I would be interested to see how Taylor would play this strong, fearless, and engaging role.

4. Cathy from The Last Five Years

Fans are “still hurting” for a Broadway production of The Last Five Years and would love Taylor Louderman to be “a part of that”. I believe Taylor could bring understanding to Cathy’s character and show audiences the depths of her journey. One path showing the struggles of a starving artist and another showcasing the emotional baggage that comes with a broken relationship. This classic Jason Robert Brown show would be received with open arms for a return to the New York City stage.

5. Glinda from Wicked

“Oh, what a celebration we’ll have” the day when we see a casting announcement of Taylor joining the company of Wicked as Glinda. Ever since Taylor’s Broadway debut in 2012, fans have been dreaming of Taylor floating in that magic bubble and spreading enchantment in Oz. Taylor would make a perfect Glinda with her bubbly personality, comedic chops, and with her impressive vocals.

6. Brenda Strong from Catch Me If You Can

At number six on the list is Brenda Strong from Catch Me If You Can. The role of Brenda Strong was originated by Louderman’s former Mean Girls cast member Kerry Butler. I would love to see Taylor’s portrayal of Brenda, mainly so we can hear her sing the fan-favorite song“Fly, Fly Away”.

(J. Quinton Johnson as Ren McCormack and Isabelle McCalla as Ariel Moore in Footloose. Photo by Jeremy Daniels.)

7. Ariel Moore from Footloose

Up next on this list is Ariel Moore from Footloose! From The Kennedy Center’s recent production of Footloose, I could see a new modern version of the show head to Broadway. I would pay good money to see Taylor sing “Holding Out For A Hero” on a Broadway stage!

(Kerry Butler as Clio/ Kira in Xanadu. Photo by Peter Lueders.)

8. Clio/ Kira from Xanadu

At number eight on the list is another Kerry Butler originated role, Clio/ Kira from Xanadu. Many young theater enthusiasts may not know that Kerry Butler starred in Xanadu on Broadway with Cheyenne Jackson, Mary Testa and Jackie Hoffman. I would love to see Taylor and some theater favorites bring this underrated musical back to Broadway.

(Stephanie Styles as Lois Lane/Bianca in Kiss Me, Kate. Photo by Emilio Madrid-Kuser.)

9. Lois Lane/ Bianca from Kiss Me, Kate

I know Broadway just received a recent revival of Kiss Me, Kate, however, how amazing would it be to have Taylor as Lois Lane/ Bianca. I feel this role would be amazing for Taylor to showcase her comedic chops, especially with the song “Always True To You”. Fun fact, Kiss Me, Kate was the first musical to be awarded Best Musical at The Tony Awards.

10. Sherrie from Rock Of Ages

“It’s the final countdown”, at number ten on the list we have Sherrie from Rock Of Ages. I would be interested to see what Taylor would bring with the role of Sherrie after following in the footsteps of many iconic women. Did you know the role of Sherrie has been played by two of Taylor’s former Mean Girls cast members, Kerry Butler and Kate Rockwell?
